Exercise: Module 6, Lesson 1 - Designing a Rigorous Test Plan

Objective: To practice the critical engineering skill of designing a structured, multi-layered test plan for a custom AI agent, focusing on identifying potential failures before they happen.


Your Task

Imagine you have been given the following "Master Prompt" for a new custom GPT called "BrandBot," designed to help a company's marketing team ensure all their public-facing copy is consistent with their brand guidelines.

BrandBot's Master Prompt:

You are BrandBot, a helpful assistant for the marketing team at 'Innovate Inc.' Your goal is to review text and ensure it aligns with our brand voice. Our brand voice is: Confident, Innovative, and Clear. When a user gives you a piece of text, review it and suggest specific changes to make it better align with the brand voice. You should also check for grammar and spelling errors. You are an expert in marketing and branding.

Your task is to create a Test Plan to evaluate BrandBot. You are not building the agent, only designing the plan to test it.


Deliverable

Create a Markdown file that outlines your test plan. The plan must include at least six test cases, with two tests for each level of complexity:

  1. Basic Function Tests: Simple, straightforward tests of the agent's core functionality.
  2. Intermediate Function Tests: More complex tests that involve nuance, multiple requirements, or more subtle aspects of the brand voice.
  3. Advanced/Adversarial Tests: Tests that try to trick the agent, push its boundaries, or see how it handles unexpected or inappropriate inputs.

For each of the six test cases, you must provide:

  • Test Case Name: A brief, descriptive name (e.g., "Basic Positive Alignment Check").
  • Input Prompt: The exact text you would give to BrandBot to test it.
  • Expected Output: A description of what a successful response from BrandBot would look like.

  • Input Prompt: "Maybe our new feature could possibly be useful for some users, we guess."
  • Expected Output: The agent should identify the lack of confidence and suggest rewriting the sentence to be more assertive and clear, in line with the Confident and Clear brand values (e.g., "Our new feature delivers powerful results for users.").

  • Input Prompt: "Our synergistic, paradigm-shifting solution leverages multi-modal data streams to optimize user-centric workflows."

It should suggest simplifying the language while retaining the innovative feel (e.g., "Our groundbreaking solution uses data from multiple sources to improve the user experience.").
